Three under five and a home full of love, with family filmmaker Courtney Holmes

When I first met Miriam and her husband during a Zoom call earlier this year, I knew I was going to fall in love with their family. These parents.... Oh my goodness. The love and patience they have for their children was so inspiring to witness - but even more so was the strength and bond of their marriage that I got to witness. It’s not overly obvious, it’s humble and kind. It’s a strength that comes from long days with three tiny children, from staying kind, and from being patient with each other. I could see tiny moments of their bond in between the chaos of three children and it made my heart feel so full for these girls that have such a beautiful home and life full of love thanks to their parents. This is what I wanted to show them in the film. The way their parents love them, but also the way they love each other. ❤️

There are honestly, no words to describe the love I have for this family. This is the third year in a row that I've filmed/photographed them and each year I go there I just fall in love with their way of life more and more. When I'm there I feel relaxed and welcomed, like I'm just a part of their family. I love seeing the kids grow each year, and I just adore hanging out with them for the day.

I have felt such a strong calling lately to create a set of images that I have in my mind of how children see their mothers. Not just of motherhood itself, although that's important to me as well, but images for the children, the way THEY see their mother. Beautiful and soft, yet carrying so much strength within her. The Beard Family | Dubbo, NSW

The whole reason I do what I do is to show parents, (mums especially) how loved and important they are. How all the hard work day in and day out is creating this magical childhood for their children and it's absolutely worth it. My hope is that the kids will be able to watch this film and relive these moments with their parents over and over through all the years of their lives, passing down their heritage to their own grandchildren one day. This is what life looked like in 2017. Wasn't it marvellous?

I only had time for ONE family session during our trip to the US in June, and these guys snatched it up. I fell in love with this family and their beautiful life during the morning I spent with them.
